WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s senior thrower, Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) has been tabbed the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

This past weekend, Weeks led his team to a 14th place finish at the All New England Championships. He placed in the shot put with a PR throw of 16.26m to move up to 17th in all of NCAA Division III. He also placed 4th in the weight throw at 17.55m and currently stands at 5th nationally in the event.

"It is amazing how he responds to the pressure week to week," commented head coach Al Halper. "Scoring in two events against competition from all three divisions at this important meet is truly a huge accomplishment. He represents our team with pride and is the epitome of what it means to be an accomplished student-athlete."

This is Weeks’ second-consecutive time earning this award, and fifth overall this season.
