Lewis Named MASCAC Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s freshman Justin Lewis (Lynn, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) outdoor track & field rookie of the week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

Lewis finished first in the high jump competition with a top jump of 1.98m at the Trinity Invitational. With this result, he is a Division III New England qualifier and is presently tied for 4th place in all of Division III New England.

“It's was good to see Justin do well in his first collegiate outdoor meet,” commented head coach Al Halper.  “He is a very talented athlete who should continue to excel into the championship season.”

“As he gets more work with his event coach Matt Swett, the next few weeks should be exciting to watch his progress,” concluded Halper.

The Lancers are competing at Holy Cross today, and are looking forward to the MASCAC/Alliance Championships this weekend at Westfield State.
