Dent Tabbed MASCAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s junior defenseman, Matthew Dent (Ludlow, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men’s soccer player of the week for the week of Oct. 24-30, as announced by the conference Monday (Oct. 31) afternoon.

Dent scored both goals, including the double overtime game-winning goal on a header in the 104th minute in the Lancers’ 2-1 victory over Bridgewater State to claim the 2016 MASCAC men’s soccer regular season title.

“He is one of our best and most consistent players,” commented head coach Jason Willis.  “The way Matt played against Bridgewater State was just another game he put us on his back.”

As a defender, Dent stands at third on the team with five goals this seasons. He also has assisted two goals to total 12 points thus far on the 2016 season.

“He is a great kid and I couldn't be happier for him in earning this accolade,” concluded Willis.

After claiming the regular season the title, the Lancers advance to playoffs and will host the winner of an MCLA/Bridgewater State quarterfinal game on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
