Three Worcester State Student-Athletes Claim Final MASCAC Track & Field Weekly Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – Three Worcester State University track & field student-athletes have earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) weekly accolades for their performances at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Geneva, Ohio this past week.

 

Freshman Justin Lewis (Lynn, Mass.) was named the MASCAC Field and Rookie of the Week as he earned his first NCAA Division III national title and the Lancers’ men’s track & field team’s second-ever individual title in program history as he leaped for a personal record (PR) and school record of 2.16m in the final round of the high jump competition.

 

Another rookie, Edward Boamah (Worcester, Mass.) was named the MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week as he marked a 49.10 time which was good for 15th place at the NCAA Division III National Championships. He came into the meet with a 400M PR and MASCAC record time of 47.78 which he earned at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships.

 

Earning the MASCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week accolade is sophomore Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) who made her second consecutive NCAA Division III outdoor track & field appearance this past weekend. McFadries took eight place in the javelin throw to earn her first-ever All-American honors. She was slotted in the ninth slot in the finals and came through with a PR throw of 41.89m in her final attempt to seal the honors.
