McFadries Tabbed MASCAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s sophomore javelin thrower, Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) has been tabbed the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women’s outdoor field athlete of the week, as announced by the conference Monday evening.

McFadries placed third in the javelin throw this past weekend at the Tufts Snowflake Classic, with a top throw of 39.80m to qualify her for Division III New England’s and All-New England’s. With this result, she is currently ranked 11th on the NCAA national list.

“Steph is focused on improving every week and that is exactly what she did this weekend,” commented head coach Andrea Ouellette.

Last season, McFadries was the sole Lancer to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships. She placed 14th nationally in the javelin throw, and holds a PR of 41.50m in the event.

“She’s focusing on fine tuning her talents so that she can see the same success she had last season,” said Ouellette.  “Ultimately, her goal is to return to national this year and that is definitely a goal she can attain.”
