WESTFIELD, Mass. - Two Worcester State University student-athletes were named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly honorees, brought to you by GEICO, on Monday, each for the first time this season.

Freshman Sarah Blomgren (Lunenburg, Mass.) was named the MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, while senior Scott Page (Winchendon, Mass.) was named the MASCAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week.

Blomgren had a trio of strong outings on the week as the Lancers went 2-1 in three contests. She averaged 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in three games, culminating in a 10-point performance in just 12 minutes a conference win over Fitchburg State on Saturday. For the week, Blomgren shot 53 percent from the floor (9-for-17). Blomgren is the second Lancer to be named MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week this season, joining teammate Calli Korbey (Hopkinton, Mass.).

Page broke his own school record on Saturday in the pole vault, taking first place in the event with a height of 4.57 meters at the Smith Pioneer Invitational. Page had previously owned the record of 4.40 meters from the NCAA Regionals in 2017. Page is the third different Worcester State men's track & field athlete to win a MASCAC weekly award in just three weeks of eligibility this season, joining Track Athlete of the Week from January 14 Eddy Boamah (Worcester, Mass.) and Field Athlete of the Week from December 3 Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.).

Blomgren's women's basketball squad will return to the court with a road matchup against Bridgewater State on Tuesday evening. Page's indoor track & field team is next in action when the Lancers headsto the Boston University Invitational for a Friday night meet.
