Callan, Moran Garner MASCAC Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. - On the heels of a huge win over Plymouth State on Saturday, Worcester State University men's ice hockey has received two weekly awards from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, brought to you by GEICO.

Sophomore Aaron Callan (South Lyon, Mich.) was named MASCAC Goaltender of the Week, while senior forward Mike Moran (Milford, Mass.) was named MASCAC Player of the Week.

Callan received his first MASCAC honor of the season after turning away 37 out of 38 shots faced in the win over first-place Plymouth State, moving to 6-2-0 on the season. Twenty of his stops came in the first period alone as he kept the game deadlocked.

Moran scored two goals and added an assist in the Lancers’ win over Plymouth State. All of his three points were scored in the third period, as the Lancers broke a third period tie to deal the Panthers their first MASCAC loss of the season. It is the third time this season Moran has been named the MASCAC Player of the Week.

Callan, Moran, and the rest of the Lancers men's ice hockey team will be back in action on Thursday afternoon as Worcester State hosts Framingham State in MASCAC action from the Worcester Ice Center. Puck drop is set for 3:40 p.m.
