King, Carleton Both Repeat as MASCAC Weekly Award Winners

WESTFIELD, Mass. - For the second consecutive week, Worcester State University student-athletes Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) and Patrick Carleton (Tewksbury, Mass.) have received weekly award recognition from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference. As was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon, King has repeated as the MASCAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, while Carleton defends his title of MASCAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week.

King averaged 11.4 kills, 11 digs and 1.2 service aces with a .241 hitting percentage in a 2-3 week for the Lancers. She opened the week with a double-double of 21 kills and 22 digs in a 3-2 win over Rhode Island College. To cap off the week, King was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Wheaton College Invitational after collecting 36 kills, 33 digs, four service aces, and three blocks assists in matches against Wheaton, Middlebury, Bates, and Farmingdale State.

For the second straight week, Carleton was the leading runner for the Lancers as they hosted the Worcester City Meet at Moore State Park. The freshman finished seventh overall at the race, running the 8k course in a time of 28:26.

King and the women's volleyball team returnsto the court on Tuesday evening to open MASCAC play on the road at Westfield State. Carleton's cross country team is back on the course on September 22nd for the 50 Annual Codfish Bowl at Boston's Franklin Park.
