Eddie Hassell Wins Fourth Straight MASCAC Rookie of the Week Award

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Eddie Hassell, a freshman on the Worcester State University men's basketball team, has garnered his fourth consecutive Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week award, brought to you by GEICO. The announcement came from the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Hassell averaged six points, four rebounds and a steal in two games last week for the Lancers. He finished with eight points and seven rebounds in the 82-81 setback to Salve Regina University on Saturday and added four points, two steals and a rebound in a 69-68 loss to Skidmore College on Wednesday.

Hassell is just the second player across all sports to win a MASCAC weekly award four consecutive weeks this season. He joins Framingham State's Brandee Thomas, who was named MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week eight consecutive weeks (nine times overall) in the fall.

Hassell and his men's basketball squad return to the court on Tuesday evening with a matchup against Becker College. Tip-off from the Leicester Gymnasium is slated for 6 p.m.
