Jess Hopkins Receives National Recognition After 3-0 Week

GILBERT, Ariz. - Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.), a freshman goalkeeper on the Worcester State University field hockey team, has received national recognition for her performance last week, as she has been named a Longstreth/NFHCA Weekly Honorable Mention.

The recognition comes one day after Hopkins led the Lancers to a Little East Quarterfinal victory over Western Connecticut, and two days after she was named the LEC Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.

Hopkins helped Worcester State go 3-0 last week with 0.34 goals against average and .917 save percentage. She totaled seven saves over a pair of 2-0 non-conference victories against Mount Holyoke College and Clark University, and capped the week with a four-save effort in a 4-1 win over Plymouth State University.

Hopkins is the second Lancer this season to be named a Longstreth/NFHCA Honorable Mention, joining senior Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.).

The Lancer field hockey team looks to advance to the Little East Championship when they face off against top-seeded Castleton University on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
