King Named MASCAC Player of the Week for Fourth Time

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.), a senior on the Worcester State University volleyball team, has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, brought to you by GEICO. The announcement came from the conference office on Monday afternoon.

It is the fourth time this season that King has won the award, and sixth time overall a Lancer has taken the title. Fellow seniors Emily Carens (Northborough, Mass.) and Allie Nolan (Melrose, Mass.) have each earned the award this season as well.

King averaged 8.75 kills, seven digs, and 1.5 blocks with five service aces and a .431 hitting percentage in a 3-1 week for the Lancers. She finished with nine kills, seven digs, two service aces and a block assist in the 3-0 win over Salem State, and added 12 kills with a .632 hitting percentage plus six digs and a block assist in the 3-0 win over UMass Dartmouth. In a Saturday tri-match, King registered 11 kills, 13 digs, three block assists, and two service aces in the 3-0 win over Framingham State, and in one set against Clark University, tallied three kills, two digs, and a block assist in the 3-0 setback.

King and the rest of the Lancer volleyball senior class will be honored on Senior Night when they next take the floor on Wednesday evening at John P. Brissette Court. The Lancers will be taking on Bridgewater State in MASCAC action starting at 7 p.m.
