Pair from Lancer Field Hockey Garner National Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) and junior Cassidy Windler (Holden, Mass.), both members of the Worcester State University field hockey team, each received national honors late on Wednesday.

Parent was selected to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Senior Game. Windler, fresh off being named the Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, was named to the Synapse Sports Field Hockey Weekly Honor Roll.

Parent becomes just the third player in Lancer field hockey history to be selected for the game. The top 60 Division III players in the nation are selected to participate in the annual game, held in conjunction with the Division III Championships. This year's game will be played on Saturday, November 17 in Manheim, Pa., and is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start. Parent is the only player from Little East Conference selected to play in the game. Keene State's Erica Stauffer was selected as an alternate. In 14 games played this season, Parent has compiled 14 goals and eight assists for a team-leading 36 points.

Windler is the second Lancer in as many weeks to be named a Synapse Field Hockey Weekly Honor Roll selection, following in the footsteps of goalkeeper Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) from a week ago. Windler recorded three defensive saves in a 3-1 win over Western Connecticut State last week. She leads the Little East with six defensive saves this season, and has scored two goals and four assists for eight points in 15 games this season.

Parent, Windler, and the rest of the Lancers field hockey team return to action on Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. start at UMass Dartmouth.
