Parent, Windler Claim Little East Weekly Award Recognition

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - After leading the Worcester State University field hockey team to a 2-0 week, a pair of Lancers received Little East Conference weekly awards. Senior Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) was named the conference's Player of the Week, while junior Cassidy Windler (Holden, Mass.) was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.

Parent had a huge week on offense for the Lancers to help her team to a pair of wins. The senior recorded two goals and two assists in both games on the week, in a 6-3 win over Salve Regina on Wednesday and a 5-0 win over Fitchburg State on Friday. A second half goal on Friday made Parent just the second player in Worcester State field hockey program history to record 100 points, and now sitting at 102 points, she is just one point away from tying the all-time program record of 103.

Windler came up particularly large in the Lancers' win over Salve Regina on Wednesday, recording two defensive saves in the victory. Her second defensive stop came on a goal line clear less than two minutes after her team had tied the game at 3-3 early in the second half. She then helped lead Worcester State to the win at Fitchburg State, which managed just nine total shots in the game.

Parent, Windler, and the rest of the Lancer field hockey team will be back in action on Thursday when they travel down the road to face WPI at 7 p.m.
