Cross Country Earns Pair of MASCAC Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Two Worcester State University cross country student-athletes have won Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference awards this week.

Senior Mia Rogers (North Dighton, Mass.) of the women’s cross country team has been named the MASCAC Runner of the Week, brought to you by GEICO, and freshman Drew Fottler (Chelmsford, Mass.) of the men’s cross country team won the Rookie of the Week award.

Rogers finished in eighth place overall with a 5k time of 19:49 to lead the Lancers to a second place finish in the 11-team field at the 50th Annual Codfish Bowl.

Fottler finished fifth overall with an 8k time of 27:17 at the Codfish Bowl. Fottler was the leading Lancer runner, as Worcester State finished in third place overall.

Rogers, Fottler, and the rest of the Worcester State men’s and women’s cross country teams run next on Saturday, October 6 at the James Early Invitational taking place at Stanley Park in Westfield.
