Men's Ice Hockey and Women's Soccer Represent Lancers in MASCAC Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's ice hockey and women's soccer teams each received nods from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference on Monday, as the conference announced its weekly honors.

Freshman Kevin Drevitch (Oxford, N.J.) looked like a seasoned veteran in his first weekend of collegiate hockey for the Lancers, earning both MASCAC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors. The rookie scored a pair of goals in Worcester State's season opening win over Becker College on Friday, before adding an assist in the team's loss to Saint Anselm on Saturday.

Junior Ashley Spellman (Lancaster, Mass.) was a brick wall in net for the women's soccer team last week, picking up a pair of wins to close out the regular season and earn MASCAC Player of the Week honors. Spellman opened the week with an eight-save shutout against UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, before making five saves in a MASCAC victory over Bridgewater State on Saturday.

Both players will lead their teams back into action on Tuesday, as Drevitch and the ice hockey team travel to Westfield State, while Spellman and the women's soccer team host Fitchburg State in the First Round of the MASCAC Tournament.
