Outdoor Track & Field Takes Part in MIT’s Last Chance Meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Both Worcester State University’s men’s and women’s track & field teams took part in MIT’s last chance meet Thursday evening at the MIT Henry G. Steinbrenner Track.

 

Worcester State’s throwers took part in four different throwing events at the meet. Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) dominated in the hammer throw as he threw for a PR distance of 56.47m to take first place. He also placed 2nd in the shot put with another PR of 16.70m, and he came in 2nd in the discus (50.48m). He currently is nationally ranked 10th in all of NCAA Division III in the discus, 13th nationally in the shot put, and 17th in the nation in hammer throw.

 

Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.) came in 3rd in the hammer (55.12m) 4th in the discus (43.68m).

 

For the women, Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) placed 5th in the javelin throw, notching a distance of 39.35m. McFadries currently stands at 18th in all of NCAA Division III with a season PR of 41.81m.

 

Worcester State’s rookie jumper, Justin Lewis (Lynn, Mass.) took 2nd place in the high jump (2.02m), and is currently ranked 12th in NCAA Division III. Haley Moss (Melrose, Mass.) marked a height of 1.60m in the high jump.

 

Edward Boamah (Worcester, Mass.) came in 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash (22.06) and Isaac Ofori (Webster, Mass.) placed 5th in the 400 Meter Hurdles (58.56). Abigail Danso (Worcester, Mass.) placed 5th in the 100 Meter Hurdles, recording a time of 15.60.

 

For the women, Lauren Waters (Mansfield, Mass.) and Abigail MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) took part in the 100 Meter Dash, registering times of 12.52 and 13.01, respectively.

 

Next week, those who have qualified will head to Geneva, Ohio for the NCAA Division III Championships.
