Men's and Women's Basketball Announce 2018-19 Schedules

WORCESTER, Mass. - Tyler Hundley and Karen Tessmer, head coaches for the Worcester State University men’s and women’s basketball teams, announced their 2018-19 schedules on Tuesday morning.

The men’s team will open their season just after midnight, at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, the first day basketball games can be played according to NCAA rules. The Midnight Madness game will feature the Lancers at home against Clark University. This will be the third consecutive year that Worcester State and Clark will open the season at midnight and the second time at John P. Brissette Court.

The Lancers women’s team will start the season at the Worcester City Tip-Off Tournament at Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a matchup against Clark.

The women’s home opener falls on Tuesday, November 13 with a game against Mount Holyoke College. The following day, the Lancer men will take on Baruch College for the first ever meeting between the two schools in men’s basketball.

The women’s team will take a trip to California at the end of December, visiting the cities of San Francisco and Santa Cruz. The road trip will conclude with a matchup against the University of California Santa Cruz on December 31.

The 10th annual Math Madness game will be held on January 14 as the women’s team takes on Nichols College. During this game, Worcester State will host school children from area schools and get them excited about math and basketball.

Alumni Day for the men’s team will be held on Saturday, January 26 with a home game against Fitchburg State. The morning will kick off with an alumni game and a reception before the Lancers take the court.

The Lancer women will be busy on February 9 as they host Alumni Day and Pink Day during their game against Fitchburg State. Worcester State teamed up with the Kay Yow Foundation to host the Play4Kay event, an opportunity to promote breast cancer awareness and raise money for the foundation.

Senior Night comes on Wednesday, February 13 for both the men and the women with a doubleheader against Bridgewater State. The Lancers will celebrate their senior student-athletes in their last home games of the season.
