Virtual Awards Week - Robert Devlin Senior Athlete Award

Virtual Awards Week - Robert Devlin Senior Athlete Award

The final award to be presented for Worcester State’s Virtual Awards Week 2020 is arguably the most prestigious award given to Lancer student-athletes.

The Robert Devlin Senior Athlete Award is given annually to a Worcester State male and female senior student-athlete who has shown outstanding athletic performance and achievement over the course of their entire career at Worcester State.

The winner of the Robert Devlin Senior Male Athlete Award was a four-year member of the Worcester State men’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams. This student-athlete is a five-time MASCAC Individual Champion, winning the shot put four times and the discus once. His most impressive MASCAC Individual Championship came this past winter, when he overcame off-season shoulder surgery, only to return midway through the season, and win a MASCAC Individual  Championship in the shot put on a condensed training regimen. He would also go on this winter to place third at the New England Championships in the event, finishing just 0.25 meters out of first place. This athlete’s crowning achievements came in 2017 when he was a freshman, as he helped his team to MASCAC Championships in both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

The winner of the Robert Devlin Senior Male Athlete Award, from the men’s track & field team, is EDDY ACUNA!

This athlete began her career with the Lancers by receiving the Little East Conference Rookie of the Year Award in field hockey as a freshman, and never slowed down. She was named All-Conference all four years, culminating in her first First Team selection in her senior season. She graduates as the program’s all-time leader in goals with 63 and points with 157. During her senior year, this athlete led the field hockey program to its first ever Little East Championship. This athlete was also a founding member of the Worcester State women’s team, joining the program in its first season when she was a sophomore, and captaining the team as a senior.

The winner of the Robert Devlin Senior Female Athlete Award, from the field hockey and women’s golf teams, is OLIVIA ANTONELLI!
