James Girouard
Title: Class of 2000

Coach Jim Girouard organized and started the football program at Worcester State College in 1969. He coached the club team for years. Three of the team's reached the National Club Championship and the Lancers won the national title in 1980 under Jim's leadership. He was presented the Key to the City of Worcester on behalf of the team. His efforts to promote football throughout the years helped in the decision to have the Lancers join the NCAA Division III football ranks in 1985.

Jim was also an Assistant Basketball Coach at Worcester State College when the late Felix Masterson was the Coach. He was a member of the faculty and coach at WSC from 1969 to 1984.

He was an outstanding three-sport athlete at Braintree High and Storm Prep School in New York before being awarded a full scholarship at Boston University where he was quarterback of the football team and an outfielder-first baseman in baseball. He was named All New England in baseball and was a 1957 All Star in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

He has also coached at Holbrook and Silver Lake High Schools and was an assistant football coach at Harvard University from 1991 to 1994. He owns and manages Tucker's Tavern and Grille in Dennisport.
