John Schaper
John Schaper
Title: Class of 2005

John Schaper served as the Worcester State athletic trainer for 12 years from 1989 through 2001.  He was the second full-time trainer at Worcester State following the legendary Oscar Larson.  Schaper oversaw the sports medicine coverage for Worcester State's 20 varsity athletic teams and for six years ran the day to day operations of the Oscar Larson Fitness Center.  Schaper is widely credited with the upgrade in equipment in the training room as well as forging a relationship with UMass Medical for coverage of ice hockey and football games.

In addition to his athletic training duties, John taught for seven years in the Worcester State's evening programs and also taught First Aid and CPR for all of the 12 years that he was at Worcester State.  John is a nationally certified athletic trainer and while at Worcester State became a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA.

He is currently a teacher and athletic trainer at Wachusett Regional High School.

It is with great pleasure that we induct John Schaper into the Worcester State College Athletic Hall of Fame.
