Five Lancers Named to 2017 MASCAC Winter Sportsmanship Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. – 29 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship as members of the 2017 Winter Sportsmanship Team.

 

The MASCAC Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes and coaches who display outstanding sportsmanship on and off the field. As an important piece of the MASCAC and NCAA philosophy, the representatives on the team display what it means to have good sportsmanship in the MASCAC.

 

The sports that are represented on the winter team are men’s and women’s basketball, men’s ice hockey and men’s and women’s indoor track and field. A student-athlete from each institution is selected by their coach to be placed on the Sportsmanship Team.

 

Starting off with men’s basketball, Patrick McGuinness of Bridgewater State, Jalen Williams of Fitchburg State, Patrick Gould of Framingham State, Tyler McKay of MCLA, Temitope Bailey of Salem State, Phil DiPhilippo of Westfield State and Corey Gatta of Worcester State received Sportsmanship Team accolades.

 

For women’s basketball, Janet Maher of Bridgewater State, Briana Pelton of Fitchburg State, Quinn O’Connell of Framingham State, Emily Moulton of MCLA, Saran Kaba of Salem State, McKenna Doremus of Westfield State and Kate Surprenant of Worcester State earn sportsmanship honors.

 

Headlining the Men’s Ice Hockey Sportsmanship Team are Cameron Snyder of Fitchburg State, Vaughn Guetens of Framingham State, Tim Perron of Plymouth State, Drew Michals of UMass Dartmouth, Mike Chen of Salem State, Jonathan LoParco of Westfield State and Andrew Etheridge of Worcester State.

 

Brayden Hollowell of Bridgewater State, Brian Amaral of Fitchburg State, Paul James of Westfield State and Momodou Kabareh of Worcester State are the Men’s Indoor Track and Field Sportsmanship Team award winners.

 

Rounding out the winter sportsmanship team honorees is Women’s Indoor Track and Field with Jessica Baccari of Bridgewater State, Nicole Gaffney of Fitchburg State, Ashley Craig of Westfield State and Stephanie McFadries of Worcester State.
