Dahlin, Vescio Appointed Faculty Athletics Representatives

Worcester, MA --- Worcester State Director of Athletics Michael Mudd has announced that Dr. Laurie Dahlin and Dr. Don Vescio have been appointed as the new Faculty Athletics Representatives, replacing Professor Charles Brownlee of the Criminal Justice Department.

“Worcester State is so fortunate to have such versatile faculty members to serve as Faculty Athletics Representatives for our student-athletes as we progress towards reaching our goals in both the classroom and on the field,” said Mudd.

“Laurie and Don will provide their oversight to the athletic department including the assurance of academic integrity as well as maintaining the welfare of our student-athletes.”

Dahlin, who has been at Worcester State since 1998, teaches in the Business Administration and Economics Department on campus. Prior to teaching at the university, Dahlin worked as an accountant and she played on the softball team at Nichols while attaining her undergraduate degree.

“I am excited for this amazing opportunity to serve as a Faculty Athletic Representative,” said Dahlin. “I am eager to work with our student-athletes and help them succeed with their studies as they represent Worcester State in their respective sports.”

Dahlin also has experience playing basketball and softball in high school and she continues to stay active hitting up the links at local golf courses.

Vescio has served Worcester State in various capacities since 1995. For 13 of them, he was an Information Technology and Enrollment Management administrator before returning to his current role in the WSU English Department.

“I look forward to supporting the student-athlete, to helping them thrive in the classroom and in competition,” said Vescio. “Worcester State has a long and proud athletic tradition and I am excited to have the opportunity to serve as a Faculty Athletic Representative.”

Vescio played ice hockey in high school and at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. He is active in the competitive cycling circuit for the last 30 years, racing both domestically and internationally.
