Rich Earns MASCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – After being named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament MVP, senior pitcher Meghan Rich (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named the MASCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week as she helped her team to a MASCAC Tournament Championship crown.

“Meg was an influential factor of the success of the MASCAC championship games, both on and off the field,” stated Worcester State pitching coach, Katie Roy.  “She was determined in the circle and worked pitch by pitch to shut down hitters.”

Rich went 3-0 in the MASCAC Softball Tournament as she registered wins against Westfield State, and two against Bridgewater State. Over four games and 20 innings pitched, Rich marked a 3.85 ERA and struck out five batters (three in the first win over Bridgewater State).

“In the dugout, Meg made sure her team was "fired up" and motivated to win,” commented Roy.  “She worked through eight innings in the first game and came back to pitch for the next game determined to gain the MASCAC title.”

“Her veteran experience was evident in her pitching and her eagerness to win was contagious,” added Roy.
