Lancers’ Lauren Taylor Tabbed LEC Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s freshman tennis player, Lauren Taylor has been named the Little East Conference (LEC) women’s tennis rookie of the week for her performance in the Lancers’ opening week (Aug. 29-Sep. 4).

 

The Attleboro, Mass. native scored 1.5 points for the Lancers in the 6-3 victory over Wentworth on Thursday (Sep. 1).

 

“Her athleticism and never-give-up attitude will make her a fierce competitor in the LEC,” commented head coach Courteney Blais.

 

She had the deciding singles win in her first collegiate match, as she defeated Wentworth’s Olivia DeLuca 6-4, 7-5. In doubles play, Taylor and partner Nathalie Khafaga defeated their opponents 9-8 with a 7-3 tiebreaker.

 

 “Her focus in the classroom and on the court makes her a great asset to the team and the Worcester State community,” stated Blais.  “I am very excited to coach Lauren this season, as she’s been an awesome addition to the team.”
