WORCESTER, Mass. – With another week of college basketball in the books, it is time to unveil this week’s Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) honor roll, including our players and rookies of the week.

Men’s Player of the Week: Patrick Bradanese (Sr.) Anna Maria (Billerica, Mass.): Bradanese averaged 24.5 points and 6.0 assists per game in a 2-0 week for Anna Maria. He scored a career-high 30 points while shooting 47.6 percent from the floor in the AMCATS win against Suffolk on Saturday. Earlier in this week, he scored 19 points and dished out seven assists in Anna Maria’s 87-78 win over Mount Ida. Overall, Bradanese saw a 42.9 percent success rate from the floor.

Men’s Rookie of the Week: Karl Charles (Fr.) Holy Cross (Piscataway, N.J.): Charles had 20 points, a career-high 15 rebounds and two assists in the Crusaders’ victory over Army, for his first career double-double. He converted a three-point play with 1:46 left in the Army game to give Holy Cross the lead for good, and added two free throws with 1.3 seconds remaining to put the game away. Charles also scored seven points at Colgate, while making 83.3 percent of his free throws on the week.

Women’s Player of the Week: Kelly Carey (Jr.) Assumption (Long Beach, N.Y.): In a 1-0 week for the Hounds, Carey posted a team-high 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc as the team defeated Pace for its second straight win. Carey also added one rebound and two assists in the win.

Women’s Rookie of the Week: Britt Herring (Fr.) Worcester State (W. Brookfield, Mass.): Herring averaged 13.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in a 0-2 week for the Lancers. In the 65-50 setback to Bridgewater State, Herring netted 10 points, tallied eight boards (four offensive) and recorded a game-high five blocks. In the 78-51 loss to Framingham, Herring registered a team-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. Overall this week, she shot 45 percent from the field.

Honor Roll:

LK Metz (Fr.) Anna Maria (West Yarmouth, Mass.): Metz averaged 7.5 points per game in just 17.5 minutes per game off the bench in a 2-0 week for Anna Maria. He shot 3-for-4 in both games to shoot at 75.0 percent on the week. In addition, Metz added seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals over the two games.

Malachi Alexander (Jr.) Holy Cross (Bowie, Md.): Alexander finished with a season-high 20 points, six rebounds and three steals in the Crusaders’ victory over Army. He scored 14 of his points against the Black Knights in the second half, as Holy Cross rallied from an eight-point deficit to win. He also added seven points at Colgate, while making 55.6 percent of his field goal attempts on the week.

Gustave Koumare (Sr.) Nichols (Harlem, N.Y.): Koumare led the Bison to a pair of wins last week to keep them on top of the conference. He opened the week with a 23-point, five rebound, four steal, four steal effort in a win over Salve Regina, then racked up 14 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and two steals in a win over Wentworth. For the week, he averaged 18.5 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game, 6-0 assists per game, and 3.0 steals per game.

Clyde Niba (Sr.), WPI (Atlanta, Ga.): Niba averaged 17 points as the Engineers improved to 15-2 overall with a pair of victories last week. The senior totaled 22 of his game-best 28 points in the first half of WPI’s 79-57 road win at Wheaton. Niba drained 11-of-18 shots from the floor, including a trio of 3-pointers.  Earlier in the week in a dramatic 67-66 win over Clark, he had tallied six points in limit action due to foul trouble but converted a key tradition 3-point play with less than three minutes to go before fouling out.

Ama Biney (So.) WPI (Worcester, Mass.): Biney amassed a team-best 12 points while adding six rebounds, three assists and three steals in a hard-earned 63-57 road win Saturday afternoon at Clark.

Paul Brooks (Jr.) Worcester State (Arlington, Mass.): Brooks averaged double-double figures of 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Lancers. He registered a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds in the 69-66 setback to Bridgewater State, and then had another of 18 points and 12 rebounds in the 70-58 victory over Framingham State on Saturday. Overall this week, Brooks went 59.1 percent (13-22) from the field in 56 minutes of play.
