Worcester State Women’s Track & Field Team Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors; McFadries Earns Individual Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University women’s track & field team has been recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their 2015-16 academic accomplishments, earning All-Academic Team Honors with an overall team GPA of a 3.34.

There were a total of 112 men’s teams and 175 women’s teams honored by the Association for success in the classroom and in competition.

“Our ladies work incredibly hard both on the track and in the classroom,” stated head coach Andrea Ouellette.  “They support each other as a team academically as well. It's no surprise that their dedication to their studies had afforded them this academic award.”

Not only was the Worcester State team honored as a whole, but freshman javelin thrower, Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) was honored individually as a USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic recipient.

“Stephanie is the total package, an all-around student-athlete,” commented Ouellette.  “Her determination carries throughout everything she does, both in the classroom and in competition. She is a very hard worker.”

McFadries was one of 426 women from 129 institutions who earned the USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors during the 2015-16 track & field season. In order to qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:

  • Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
  • Finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
