Worcester State Fall 2015 Student-Athlete Academic Report

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University Department of Athletics has announced its Fall 2015 Student-Athlete honor roll for student athletes who have registered a grade point average of 3.2 or above for the recently completed fall semester.  197 student-athletes (out of 463) at Worcester State were named to the honor roll.  The 197 students comprise of 43% of our student-athlete population.

 

Last week, the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) announced its fall 2015 All-Academic teams where 106 fall student-athletes were named to the MASCAC fall All-Academic teams. 

 

"Our student-athletes continue to achieve academic success in the classroom and are able to balance the demands of being a college athlete with their academic course load,” stated Associate Athletic Director, Karen Tessmer.

 

Of the Lancers’ 19 varsity sports, 11 teams posted team GPAs above 3.0 in the fall 2015 academic term. These teams included the following:

Men: Golf, Ice Hockey, Cross Country

Women: Basketball, Tennis, Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, Indoor Track & Field, Softball, and Field Hockey

 

The student-athletes, as a whole, earned an impressive 3.01 overall GPA throughout the fall 2015 semester.

 

“Congratulations to our student athletes, their coaches and academic support services who value and encourage the academic progress of our student athletes as they move toward the completion of their Worcester State degree,” commented Tessmer. “We are proud of the academic accomplishments of all our student athletes and applaud their efforts to be true "student-athletes".
