Barry Tabbed Co-MASCAC Baseball Rookie of the Week

Westfield, MA --- Freshman Adam Barry (Auburn, MA/Holy Name) has been named Co-MASCAC Baseball Rookie of the Week for his efforts in a sweep over Lasell on Saturday, March 1.

Barry swatted .625 (5-for-8) with a double, one triple and two runs scored, one stolen base and an RBI to help the Lancers open their campaign with a pair of 5-2 and 5-4 victories over the Lasers.

After he jacked a three-bagger in the bottom of the fifth inning to center field in the nightcap, Barry helped account for the game-winning run, snapping a 4-4 tie after he was driven in by senior Rob MacDonald (Waltham, MA).

First-year Andrew Wells (Methuen, MA) was also selected to the MASCAC Honor Roll for his efforts in the second contest for the Lancers. With the bases juiced and the game on the line in the top of the fifth, he retired the side in order and hurled three scoreless frames and collected his first collegiate victory.

His performance on the mound set the stage for Barry's lead-off extra base knock.

The Blue and Gold continue their season on Saturday when they kick-off their spring trip with a twinbill against Wentworth at the Lake Myrtle Complex Field #4.
