Fisher Deals Baseball 6-0 Setback At Fraser Field

Lynn, MA --- Fisher senior Pedro Escarfullery (Waterbury, CT) hurled eight scoreless frames as he combined on a four-hitter with classmate Ivan Valez (Avon, MA) to help the Falcons blank Worcester State 6-0 in non-league baseball action this evening at Fraser Field.

Fisher (32-13) scored runs in the third and fifth frames to build up the early 2-0 advantage.

Junior Sander Vargas (Lawrence, MA) then highlighted the bottom of the sixth with a two-run double to left and senior Yhonathan Santelises (Lynn, MA) chipped in with a sacrifice fly to help give the hosts a 5-0 edge.

Sophomore Yuliano Rodriguez (Tao Alto, Puerto Rico) drove another deep fly to right to score another run for the six-run margin in the eighth.

Worcester State (18-14) had their chances to break into the scoring column. Junior Zach George (Attleboro, MA) led off the contest with a double down the left field line and he moved to third on a bunt, but he was stranded at the plate.

Junior Cody Osburn (Sacramento, CA) and freshman Brian Bonacquisti (Pittsfield, MA) both found themselves in position to score in the top of the fourth and fifth innings, however, the Lancers could not knock them in as Escarfullery used strong movement on his pitches to create the ground ball outs to end the threat.

Escarfullery (2-0) fanned five, but issued four walks while Valez tossed a perfect ninth.

Junior Tyler Barrie (Oxford, MA) was dealt the loss in his first decision of the campaign. He allowed two runs (one earned) on five this over his five innings of work. Barrie struck out four and walked one.

George was the lone multi-hitter for the Blue and Gold, who were outhit 9-4.

Worcester State will take on Fisher again at home on Thursday in a 3:30 affair at the Lyons Baseball Diamond.
