Baseball Suspended Due to Darkness in 12-12 Tie

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester State University baseball game versus Fitchburg State was suspended Wednesday evening due to darkness with the score tied 12-12 and headed into extra innings. 

The game will be completed at a later date, which is to be determined. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader at Fitchburg State next Tuesday.

Prior to the game's suspension, the Lancers erased a six-run deficit in the bottom of the eighth inning before tying the game in the ninth. Senior Michael Ferrara (Easton, Mass.) tied the score on an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to cap the rally after Worcester State scored five times in the eighth.

Worcester State's Ben Palatino (Hudson, Mass.) and Jake Breton (Wilbraham, Mass.) were each 4-for-5 when the game was called, while Fitchburg State's Vincent Eramo (Shirley, Mass.) was 5-for-6.

No statistics from the game will be considered official by the NCAA until the game's completion.

Worcester State will return to the field on Friday for a road matchup against Bridgewater State. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
