Baseball's Season Ends in MASCAC Quarterfinal

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - The Worcester State University baseball team was its 2019 season come to an end on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Framingham State University 10-2 in the quarterfinals of the MASCAC Tournament at the New England Baseball Complex.

With the loss, Worcester State finishes the season with a record of 20-20.

Framingham State scored runs in the first four innings of the ball game to jump out to a commanding 9-0 lead. Framingham State capped the offensive explosion with a two-run home run off the bat of Matt Fogarty in the bottom of the fourth.

Worcester State got its only offense of the day when junior Kenan Kolanda (Sterling, Mass.) nailed to two-run homer over the left field fence in the top of the seventh inning.

Framingham State added an insurance run with an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning to go ahead 10-2.

Sophomore Kyle Gray (Braintree, Mass.) got the loss for Worcester State on the hill, allowing seven earned on seven hits in 2+ innings. Jake Breton (Wilbraham, Mass.) led Worcester State with two hits.
