Baseball Chosen to Finish Sixth in MASCAC Preseason Poll

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Worcester State University baseball team has been selected to finish sixth in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference as the Preseason Coaches Poll was released by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lancers received one first place vote, finishing sixth place with 21 points. Westfield State finished atop the poll with 47 points and six first place votes, while second place and the final first place vote went to Salem State. The complete Preseason Poll can be found below.

The Lancers went 6-8 in conference play 2018, thanks in part to first baseman Ben Palatino (Hudson, Mass.). Palatino was fifth in the league in batting average (.356) and second in the league in stolen bases (16). He also scored 31 runs and drove in 17.

Worcester State opens its 2019 season in Florida in just over two weeks, with a doubleheader against Mount Union on March 9.
