Narcisse, Hippert, Scerra Honored With All-MASCAC Football Accolades

Westfield, MA --- Junior teammates Bryan Narcisse (Medway, MA) and Casey Hippert (Douglas, MA) along with senior AJ Scerra (Marlboro, MA) were all named to the All-MASCAC football team in a vote by the leagues nine head coaches as announced by league publicist Emily Diekelmann.

In the inaugural All-MASCAC football selections, Narcisse and Hippert received First-team accolades while Scerra copped Second-team laurels.

Narcisse, who started in all 10 games at defensive end, was tabbed with his second-straight First-team distinction after he was an All-NEFC pick a year ago. As a force up front for the Blue and Gold, Narcisse put tied for second in the MASCAC in tackles for a loss (16.5), sacks (8.5) and fumble recoveries (three).

His standout games included an eye-popping 13 tackles with seven tackles for a loss and four sacks in a season-opening win against Anna Maria and seven stops (six solo), 3.5 TFL and 2.5 sacks in a setback against Westfield State.

Hippert comes off injuries in back-to-back campaigns to post his finest season to date wearing a Lancer uniform as the primary starter at tight end. Hippert ended the campaign third in the MASCAC in receptions (62), receiving yardage (1,050 yards) and receiving yardage per game (105.0 YPG) while he was seventh in touchdowns (7).

As of the final week of the regular season, Hippert was tied for 19th in the NCAA Division III in receiving yardage and he had equaled 21st in yards per game – totals which rank him the only tight end in the top 50 in both categories.

Hippert is also the first WSU receiver to go over the millennial mark in yardage since Lancer Hall of Famer Kevin Gniadek and Jeremy Frisch accomplished the feat in 2001.

Scerra, completed his final season for the Lancers as the top wide out on the squad. He garnered his third straight all-conference nod which included first-team recognition last season.

After a remarkable junior season that saw him eclipse the school record in receptions, Scerra once again rose to the challenge and hauled in 66 receptions for 648 yards and seven touchdowns.

In addition to boasting sums that were among the top 10 in the conference, Scerra's receptions are the third highest single-season total in program history. He had a trio of 11 catch games which included strong performances in a win over Mass Maritime (118 yards – 1 TD) and a one-point loss to UMass Dartmouth (147 yards – 1 TD).

Both Scerra and Hippert were factors in helping the Blue and Gold shatter the previous program mark in passing yardage and for boosting the 13th best passing offense (314.2 YPG) in Division III.

The Lancers finished the season at 3-7 overall and 1-7 in MASCAC action under the guidance of 31st year head coach Brien Cullen.
