Salem, VA --- Senior AJ Scerra (Marlboro, MA) wrapped up his outstanding collegiate career on Friday, December 13 by participating in the 2013 Division III North/South Senior Classic at Salem Football Stadium.

The senior showcase sponsored by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) marked the fourth annual event, which is held at the same site as the NCAA Division III National Football Championship on December 21.

Scerra, an All-MASCAC Second-team selection this past November, ended his final campaign with 66 catches for 648 yards and seven touchdowns for the Lancers. He was named one of four team captains for the North squad.

Among conference leaders, Scerra was ranked second in receptions, sixth in receiving scores and seventh in total yardage while he is currently tied for 38th nationally in average receptions (6.6) and equaled for the third most catches in New England.

The three-time all-conference pick hangs up his cleats as the all-time career leader in receptions (207) and receiving touchdowns (26) while his yardage is second overall in the program annals (2,479).

In addition to being third at Worcester State history in scoring (186 points) and seventh in all-purpose yards (2,967), Scerra's remarkable four-year reception milestone is sixth in the Division III New England Football record book.

Other representatives from the MASCAC on the North roster included Chavere Archer (Lynn, MA – DE), Pat McGrath (Everett, MA – LB) and Melikke Van Alstyne (Salem, MA – RB) of Framingham State, Devin Myers (Waterbury, CT – DE) of Western Connecticut and Stefan Gustafson (Plymouth, MA – RB) of Mass Maritime.

Locally, senior linebacker Melvin Booker (Roxbury, MA) of Becker also helped anchor the defense and the Framingham State coaching staff helped guide the North sideline.

In each of the last four years, the Lancers have had a student-athlete participate in a senior all-star showcase as they have included former standouts, Tyler Russell (2010), Marcus Price (2011) and Graham Asum (2011).

Russell and Price were both starters for the Division III North/South Senior Classic while Asum played in the National Bowl. Russell was also one of four team captains in the All American Bowl held in Minneapolis in his final contest as a collegian.
