Hippert Recognized With D3football.com Team Of The Week Honors

Danbury, CT --- Senior Casey Hippert (Douglas, MA/Northbridge) has been tabbed with D3football.com Team of the Week honors for his incredible performance in a victory over UMass Dartmouth this past Saturday.

Hippert, who has also earned MASCAC and Corvais ECAC Division III New England Offensive Player of the Week nods, hauled in 11 receptions for a career-best 243 yards and three touchdowns in a 50-43 triumph over the Corsairs.

His breakout performance was the third-highest sum ever put up in program history and just 16 yards away from equaling the single-game record held by Lancer Hall of Famer Kevin Gniadek (1998-01) against Salve Regina.

The 76 yard touchdown run in the pouring rain was a nominee for MASCAC Football Play of the week.

Through five starts this season, Hippert has jumped into the top 10 among MASCAC's pass catching leaders as he is fourth in receiving yardage (95.2 YPG), eighth in total yardage (476) and he is tied for eighth with three touchdowns.

Over the course of his tremendous career as a tight end Hippert has also etched his name into the record book with the fifth-most receptions (136) and he is tied for fifth with Mike Jenkins (1986-87) with 18 receiving scores.

Hippert's receiving yards sum of 2,305 is also 60 away from Gniadek's third-place mark and he could close within milestone this coming week.

Last year Hippert finished as the top receiving yardage leader for a tight end in the NCAA Division III with 62 receptions for 1,050 yards and seven touchdowns en-route to All-MASCAC First-team and D3football.com All-East Second-Team laurels.

Earlier this week, Hippert shared MASCAC Offensive weekly accolades with Tory Mack (Stratford, CT) of Western Connecticut. With his fourth career honor on the d3football.com national honor roll, he was the only student-athlete on the entire team named from a New England institution.

Worcester State (4-2, 2-2 MASCAC) makes the trip to Danbury, Connecticut to take on Western Connecticut for a 5 PM showdown on Saturday.
