Narcisse Recognized As D3football.com All-American Honorable Mention Pick

 

Minneapolis, MN --- Senior Bryan Narcisse (Medway, MA) has been selected to the D3football.com All-American team as announced on Friday evening just before the start of the NCAA Division III National Football Championship game.

Narcisse, who earned Honorable Mention accolades, was one of three from a New England institution as he joins junior Diogo Dietrich (Rio de Janero, Brazil – 3rd Team) of SUNY Maritime and sophomore Elliot Tobin (Minetonka, MN – Hon. Mention) of MIT on the squad.

Following a tremendous four-year career at defensive end, Narcisse capped his senior year off with his best campaign for last.

En-route to helping pace Worcester State to third overall in the final MASCAC regular-season standings, Narcisse finished with 83 tackles (59 solo) to go with 12.5 sacks for 72 yards, 21.0 tackles for a loss (91 yards), one forced fumble and one interception.

In the final NCAA Division III rankings, he ended the year fourth in the country in sacks per game (1.25), tied for sixth in total sacks, ninth in average tackles for a loss (2.1) and 11th in total tackles for a loss. His 5.6 solo tackles per game were fourth at his position in the nation.

While leading New England individually in both categories, Narcisse also helped the Lancers top the region with 41 team pass sacks and 92 stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Impressively in 41 career contests, Narcisse ended his WSU career with 33.0 sacks, 69.5 tackles for a loss, four fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and one interception. He is currently second behind 2014 D3football.com Defensive Player of the Year Tyre Coleman (Poughkeepsie, NY) of Hobart in career sacks on the NCAA Division III active list.

Narcisse also became Worcester State's eighth individual to claim All-American accolades and the fourth defensive lineman to claim the honor.

Others have included Lancer Hall of Famer Kevin Morrissey (1988), Steve Hathaway (1996) and Russ Watson (2000, 2001) as former return specialist standout Graham Asum is the last to be recognized with prestigious laurels with D3football.com Third-team recognition after the 2012 campaign.

Narcisse is one of the 70 finalists (18 from Division III) for the Cliff Harris Award, recognizing the best NCAA Division II, III and NAIA defensive player in the country. The winner of the award will be announced on Wednesday, December 24.

Under the direction of 32nd year head coach Brien Cullen, the Lancers ended the season at 7-3.
