Hwang Named to MASCAC Football All-Conference First Team

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's Noah Hwang (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) football All-Conference team, as announced by the conference Wednesday (Nov. 16) afternoon.

 

Hwang finished the season with a total of 34 points. He made five of seven field goals with his longest being a 38-yarder. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native marked a 83 PAT percentage as he went 19-for-23.

 

Eddie Sheridan of UMass Dartmouth and Marshall McCarthy of Massachusetts Maritime were named the 2016 MASCAC Football Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year and headline the 2016 MASCAC All-Conference teams as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

 

Sheridan, the senior running back from Chelmsford, Mass., had a solid senior season for the Corsairs, leading the MASCAC in total rushing yards with 1,087 and yards per game with 120.8.

 

Earning Defensive Player of the Year accolades, McCarthy, a senior from Duxbury, Mass., closed out the regular season as the NCAA Division III leader in solo tackles with 83 and leading the conference in total tackles with 108 and tackles per game with 12.

 

In his first year behind center for the Rams, Framingham State's Adam Wojenski has earned 2016 MASCAC Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. The freshman from Stratford, Conn. completed his freshman campaign with 1,141 yards, 126.8 yards per game and nine touchdowns.

 

First year defensive back Prince Gbaley of Plymouth State is the 2016 MASCAC Defensive Rookie of the Year. The freshman from Manchester, N.H. led the league in interceptions with six and interceptions returned for a touchdown with two.

 

For helping his team improve in MASCAC play this season, Paul Castonia of Plymouth State has been named the 2016 Champion's Choice Coach of the Year by his peers.
