Maher Earns Spot on D3football.com All-East Region First-Team

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's sophomore tight end Jacob Maher (Marshfield, Mass.) has been named to the D3football.com 2017 All-East Region First-Team as announced by D3football.com Tuesday (Dec. 5) evening.

 

"Maher was the main force for us offensively this year," commented head coach  Brien Cullen, who led his team to a 6-4 winning season and a 5-3 record in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).

 

Maher, a 6-3 sophomore tight end, finished the 2017 season with a league-best 14 receiving touchdowns for a team-best 84 points on the season. He totaled 986 receiving yards, averaging 98.6 yards per game for the second-best mark in the MASCAC. Maher also rushed 10 times for 13 yards.

 

Maher was not only the lone Lancer named to the D3football.com All-East Region Team, but also was the only player from the MASCAC that earned a spot on the First-Team. Framingham State's Jaquan Harris was named to the Second-Team, while Marvey Mathurin of UMass Dartmouth and Zach Ziemba of Plymouth State were named to the Third-Team.  

 

This season Maher was also recognized on the New England Football Writers Association Division II/III All-New England Team, the Worcester Area All-Star First-Team, and the MASCAC First-Team All-Conference for his offensive efforts.
