WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman linebacker, Mike Quinn (Sutton, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) football rookie of the week, as announced by the conference Sunday (Sep. 24) afternoon.

This past weekend, Quinn registered a fumble recovery and returned the ball 16 yards for a touchdown in the Lancers' 34-10 win over Westfield State. He also led the Lancers in tackles with nine (six solo).

"Mike has been a huge part of our defense this year," commented head coach Brien Cullen. "He is a major factor of our turnaround this year, as far as defensive play."

Quinn currently is second in the conference in tackles for a loss (5) and is sixth in the conference with 36 tackles (25 solo, 11 assisted) as he averages nine tackles per game.

"He is an outstanding athlete, and we look forward to having him continue at this level," Cullen concluded.
