Cam Kergo Named MASCAC Rookie of the Week

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Cam Kergo (Mashpee, Mass.) , a freshman on the Worcester State University football team, has been named the Rookie of the Week by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference. The announcement came from the conference on Sunday afternoon.

Kergo pulled in five catches for 46 yards on Friday, and pulled in his first collegiate touchdown catch in the fourth quarter of a 12-10 loss to Becker College. His five catches matched a team high in the contest.

Kergo is the first Worcester State football athlete to earn a weekly award from the MASCAC since Nick Ashley (Worcester, Mass.) was named Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week and Dex Andrews (Dorchester, Mass.) was named Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 2 last season.

Kergo and the Lancers will be back in action on Saturday for its MASCAC opener at Plymouth State. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
