Six Lancers Selected to Merc Morris Worcester All-Star Team

WORCESTER, Mass. - Six student-athletes from the Worcester State University football team have been selected to the Steve "Merc" Morris Worcester Area All-Star Team. The honors, as selected by Worcester area sports information directors, were announced on Tuesday evening.

On the offensive side of the ball, freshman Cam Kergo (Mashpee, Mass.) made the second team in the wide receiver position, while junior Colin Robinson (Centerville, Mass.) was a second team selection at tight end. Kergo was Worcester State's leading receiver this season with 41 catches for 446 yards and four touchdowns in nine games. Robinson finished the season with 33 catches for 428 yards and a score.

On defense, MASCAC All-Conference selections Gus Ramstrom (Natick, Mass.) and AJ Byard (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) each earned Worcester All-Star selections for the second consecutive season. Ramstrom was Worcester State's leading tackler with 78 this season. The linebacker had 6.5 tackles for loss to tie for second on the team, with 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two pass breakups. Byard was Worcester State's second leading tackler with 76 on the year. His 42 solo tackles was tops on the Lancers. Byard also finished the year with one sack, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, and 10 pass breakups.

Senior Anthony Casparriello (Westborough, Mass.) earned a spot on the Worcester All-Star team as the Lancers' leading tackler on the defensive line. Casparriello recorded 57 tackles with 1.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, and a forced fumble.

Rounding out Worcester State selections was freshman punter Kyle Wall (Sterling, Mass.). Wall punted the ball 52 times in 2019, averaging 40.5 yards per punt. Wall landed 18 punts inside the 20-yard line, with merely two touchbacks.
