Title: Volunteer Assistant Coach

Eddie Jewel comes to Worcester State after serving as defensive backs coach at his alma mater, Bridgewater State University for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. In addition to coaching the defensive backs, he coached special teams with the Bears punt and kick returners. Jewel mentored a defensive backs unit which helped BSU post a 7-4 record by yielding only 235.2 passing yards per game with 15 interceptions after allowing 259.9 yards per game with only five interceptions during the 2014 season for a 4-6 mark. He coached two All-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) performers as the Bears reached the ECAC Legacy Bowl.

 

Jewel joined the coaching staff following graduation after gaining experience as a student assistant during his senior year. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in communications from Bridgewater State in 2015 after transferring from Monmouth Universitywhere he earned his varsity letter two years in a row. At Bridgewater State Jewel led the team 9-2 mark and earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament, while the bears defense was rank a top 10 defense in the nation in 2012. Jewel also served as team captain  and was a three-time All-MASCAC selection. In 2013 season Jewel was named a preseason All-American, was invited to play in the USA VS Mexico Aztec Bowl and The All American Bowl.
