O'Rourke, Turnbull Power Field Hockey Past Becker, 7-0

Leicester, MA --- Sophomore Julie O'Rourke (Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) finished with six points and senior Amanda Turnbull (Leicester, MA) potted a pair of markers as they both helped lead Worcester State to a 7-0 triumph over Becker College in non-conference filed hockey action at Alumni Field.

The Lancers are now 6-1 on the season with the win and off to their best start, matching the mark the 2006 squad had. The Hawks fall to 0-9 with the setback.

WSU got on the board just 3:16 into the game when junior Jourdan Childs (Attleboro, MA) fed O'Rourke for a slap shot from the top of the key, giving the Blue and Gold the early 1-0 advantage.

The Lancers added to their lead when O'Rourke connected with sophomore Erika Lepkowski (Baldwinville, MA) by the left post for her third goal of the season.

O'Rourke tallied her third point of the first half when she set up Turnbull for her first career marker.

The Lancers capped off their first half barrage when Lepkowski scored her second goal of the game on an assist from freshman Meghan Pini (Natick, MA).

Freshman Alli Baker (Somerset, MA) gave the Lancers a 5-0 advantage when she scored her first collegiate goal 11:24 into the second half off an assist from sophomore Katelyn Abber (Dedham, MA), following a penalty corner.

At the 51:59 mark, O'Rourke struck again with her sixth point of the game on another slap shot from the top of the key. Turnbull chipped in the final marker exactly nine minutes later for an unassisted tally.

Worcester State goalie Allison Romano (E. Bridgewater, MA) didn't face a single shot in the game, improving her record to 6-1. Becker goalkeeper Samantha-Jo Dilkes (Little Falls, N.J.) made 17 saves, tying a career high.

The Lancers continue their Little East schedule with a matchup against Salem State on Saturday at 12 PM while Becker plays host to Fitchburg State in a 4 o'clock meeting.
