McPherson Selected To Little East Conference Third-Team

North Dartmouth, MA --- Junior Kelli McPherson (Mansfield, MA) has been selected to the Little East Conference Third-Team in a vote by the leagues 12 head coaches this past week as announced by conference publicist Jack Holleran.

McPherson started in 19 games at center midfield and had a break-out campaign for the Lancers as she led the team with 11 goals and 32 points. She was also second in assists (10) and tied for the team lead with two defensive saves.

Among league leaders she is in the top 10 in both assists (sixth) and points (ninth). In three seasons, she boosts career totals of 17 goals and 12 assists for 46 points, which is good for 17th on WSU's all-time scoring list, just three away from the top 15.

McPherson helped rejuvenate an offense that eclipsed school records in goals (61), assists (44) and points (166). After her second consecutive nod to the LEC third-team, she helped guide the team to an 11-8 mark after going 3-15 a year ago.

Doubling as a shooting guard on the women's basketball team, McPherson looks to contribute another successful campaign on the hardwood this winter. She canned 21 field goals from beyond the arc and contributed 4.1 points and 2.0 rebounds in 26 games serving primarily as the sixth man.

Piloted by second-year head coach Chris Pothier, the fifth-seeded Lancers travel to #4 Smith tomorrow in the quarterfinal round of the ECAC Division III New England Field Hockey Tournament at 2 PM. It's their first appearance in the ECACs since the 2011 campaign.
