O’Rourke Distinguished With LEC Offensive Player of the Week Laurels

 

N. Dartmouth, MA --- Junior Julie O'Rourke (Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) has been tabbed Little East Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for collecting 10 points in a 2-0 week for Worcester State.

O'Rourke notched a hat-trick to go along with two assists in an 8-0 triumph over Becker before she tapped in the lone goal in a 1-0 league triumph over Salem State.

Through her first nine games of the season O'Rourke has been a force for the Lancers as she tops the LEC in points (20), shares the lead in assists (6) while tying for second in goals (7). The Blue and Gold as a team currently have the second highest scoring offense in the conference with 2.67 goals per contest.

O'Rourke has also moved up the ladder on the all-time scoring list going from 24th to 12th as she has 59 points in 46 games (20 goals – 19 assists). O'Rourke is only three away from tying Sarah Cozzens (2008-11) for tenth.

Worcester State has two key LEC games in the next week starting with UMass Dartmouth tomorrow at 7 PM before hosting Bridgewater State on Saturday at 11 AM.
