Field Hockey Blanked On The Road By Keene State, 3-0

 

Keene, NH --- Keene State junior Karisa Lemoine (Berlin, NH) finished with two goals as she helped lead the Owls to a 3-0 victory over Worcester State in Little East Conference field hockey action at the Owl Athletic Complex.

With the win, Keene State moves to 9-4 and 7-0 in the LEC while the Lancers fall to 7-6 and 3-4 in the 12-team loop.

Lamoine helped put the Owls on top 1-0 early in the opening frame when she found the back of the net on a rebound off her own shot just 53 ticks into the game.

KSC senior Melissa Habelow (Belmont, MA) then fired a shot following a penalty corner that Lamoine tipped into cage to put the hosts up 2-0 at the intermission on her seventh marker of 2014.

Habelow capped off the scoring for Keene State with some help on the play by sophomore Brittney Cardente (N. Kingston, RI) and classmate Marita Brothers (Stafford Springs, CT) with her sixth tally of the campaign.

Worcester State had two chances in the second stanza to break the shutout. Junior Taylor Ledwith's (Springfield, MA/Cathedral) bid was turned aside by the Keene State keeper with 12 minutes left and sophomore Meghan Pini's (Natick, MA) attemped went wide four mintues later.

Junior Meaghan Dwyer (Rutland, MA) was only called upon to make one save while freshman netminder Kathryn Salemme (Boxboro, MA) collected nine stops in the defeat.

KSC held a 12-1 margin in shots on goal and a 10-0 edge in penalty corners.

Worcester State, who has dropped their last three contests, hosts Clark on Tuesday in a 7 PM battle. The Owls entertain RPI at 6 PM on Wednesday.
