Antonelli Earns Second Consecutive Field Hockey Rookie of the Week Award

WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman field hockey forward, Olivia Antonelli (Westford, Mass.) earned her second consecutive Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie of the Week award for her performance in the Lancers' 1-1 week, as announced by the conference on Monday (Sep. 19).

Antonelli started the week off with one goal in the Lancers' non-conference setback to WPI, and then scored not one, but two goals in the Blue and Gold's 7-1 win over LEC opponent, Salem State.

"Olivia has really been finding that chemistry with the offensive line," commented interim head coach Alexa Carlson.

Antonelli currently leads the field hockey squad in goals with five, and is second on the team in points – just one behind classmate Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) who has 11.

"Olivia works extremely well with everyone but especially with Michaila," said Carlson.  "They always find each other regardless of where they are on the field."

"Olivia is continuing to find herself in the right position at the right time to put the ball in the net," added Carlson. "She is extremely smart in front of the cage and knows how to utilize different maneuvers to get around any keeper."

This week the field hockey team is scheduled for three games, beginning with a road game tomorrow at UMass Dartmouth. On Thursday they host Anna Maria in a non-conference matchup, and then conclude the week with a road conference game at Eastern Connecticut State University.
