MANSFIELD, Conn. –Worcester State lost their first Little East Conference (LEC) game of the season as the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors shutout the Lancers 1-0 in a Saturday afternoon matchup at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.

Eastern Connecticut's senior goalie Samantha Scavo (Redding, Conn.) ran her scoreless streak to 195 minutes and graduate student Brianna Pasero (Trumbull, Conn.) scored her team-leading fifth goal midway through the second half to carry the Warriors to their third straight shutout win.

The conference win is the third straight for Eastern (5-3, 4-1 LEC), which had been beaten 12 of the previous 14 times by Worcester (5-4, 3-1 LEC).

Passero, who had managed only four goals and eight points through the first 15 matches of last year, now has ten goals and 22 points in her last 13 matching dating back to last Oct. 28. The game-winner was her second of the year.

Scavo made three saves in lowering her goals-against average to 1.00 and upped her save percentage to .811. The shutout was the second straight for Scavo, who has not allowed a goal over the last 194 minutes and 52 seconds.

Eastern Connecticut's defense only allowed the Lancers three shots on the game, in which two came from sophomore Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) and the other from Jess Wilding (Somerset, Mass.).

Worcester's goalkeeper, Kathryn Salemme (Acton, Mass.) suffered the loss as she marked a six-save performance.

The Lancers next matchup is scheduled for Wednesday (Sep. 28) when they host Bridgewater State in, yet, another LEC contest.
