WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State Lancers improved their winning streak to six with a 3-0 shutout over cross-town opponents, Becker College, in a Thursday night matchup at John F. Coughlin Field. With the win, the Lancers advance to 11-4 on the season, while the Hawks fall to 3-12.

Just 19 seconds into play, the dynamic duo of Olivia Antonelli (Westford, Mass.) and Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) began the Lancer goals with a crisp pass from the stick of Parent, feeding Antonelli for 1-0 lead.

21 minutes later, senior Meghan Pini (Natick, Mass.) found herself a goal in a scramble in front of the goal following her own penalty corner for the 2-0 score leading into halftime.

To start the second half, the Lancers again had a chance on a corner when Kayla Quinn (Sutton, Mass.) passed to teammate Hayley Sutherland (Tewksberry, Mass.) who fired a shot to put the Lancers up 3-0.

The Lancers registered 21 shots and had a staggering 14 corners in the game, while Becker struggled and only were able to get on shot in the last four minutes of play.

Worcester State plays next on Saturday (Oct. 15) against the visiting Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference matchup starting at 11 a.m. at John F. Coughlin Field. The Hawks resume play on Saturday as well when they host Regis in a conference game at 11 a.m.
