Nine Lancers Earn Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Honors; Baker and Parent Recognized as Division III Scholars of Distinction

WORCESTER, Mass. – Nine Worcester State University field hockey student-athletes received recognition on the Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad, while two Lancers were recognized as Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction, as announced by the association Thursday morning.

 

Worcester State's Olivia Antonelli (Westford, Mass.), Alli Baker (Somerset, Mass.), Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.), Rielley Richards (Athol, Mass.), Lindsay Ryan (Northbridge, Mass.), Kathryn Salemme (Acton, Mass.), Katelyn Santos (Acushnet, Mass.), Jolane Thibault (Douglas, Mass.), and Jess Wilding (Somerset, Mass.) all were named to the NFCA Division III National Academic Squad.

 

The Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad includes all student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or greater through the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year. 1,604 student-athletes made the list and 148 schools represented.

 

There were 185 seniors noted for making the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad in each of their four seasons – one of which was Baker.

 

Out of the nine Lancers earning a spot on the Division III National Academic Squad, both Baker and Parent were recognized as Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction.

 

The Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or greater through the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year. A total of 208 student-athletes representing 103 different schools were recognized as distinct scholars.
